About the Plant

Ají Pipi de Mono is a rare and wild Peruvian pepper from the Amazon region. Its name, meaning “Monkey’s Pepper,” comes from its playful, fiery personality and compact fruit. The small, slender peppers have a bright red color and a sharp, lingering heat that makes them perfect for sauces and seasoning blends.

How to Grow (Simple Steps)

  1. Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost.

  2. Sow ¼ inch deep in warm, moist soil.

  3. Keep soil temperature between 80–90°F for best germination.

  4. Transplant outdoors in full sun after danger of frost.

  5. Harvest when peppers turn bright red and glossy.

Scoville Heat Units: 50,000–100,000 SHU

Peruvian Kitchen Inspiration
